Project Case Study

Dilute Ethylene Recovery Skid

A skid-mounted project for a pilot chemical catalyst production unit. The customer provided the process package, and Sharp Eagle handled detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, skid integration, and later installation and commissioning support, helping turn the package into a manufacturable, installable, and operable modular unit.

Project Background / Risks and Challenges

Turning an R&D project into an operating skid system

The project supported a pilot unit for localized catalyst production at a major Chinese chemical company. The customer provided the process package, and Sharp Eagle focused on detailed engineering and process package development, confirming the process route, equipment interfaces, fabrication details, installation method, and operation and maintenance needs, then converting them into a skid solution better suited for fabrication, installation, and operation.

Process package development and process optimization

The customer provided a basic process package, but some design boundaries, equipment interfaces, fabrication details, installation methods, and operating convenience still needed further development. Sharp Eagle combined fabrication, installation, and operating experience to identify issues and propose a more practical optimization plan.

Multidisciplinary coordination for complex conditions

This was not a single-pipe or single-equipment package. Structural steel, piping, equipment, electrical, instrumentation, PLC/DCS control, automated valves, and spatial layout had to be considered as one complete system.

Solving site space constraints

Sharp Eagle did not simply pack equipment into the skid. The team planned the footprint, height, operating passages, maintenance space, lifting conditions, and later service approach around the actual site, keeping the unit compact without compromising operation.

Solution / Delivery Value

Multidisciplinary design and modular delivery

Sharp Eagle carried out detailed engineering based on the customer’s process package, coordinating steel structure, industrial piping, equipment, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and spatial layout, then completing delivery through modular fabrication and on-site installation and commissioning support.

1

Turning the process package into an executable plan

Around the process flow, equipment arrangement, piping connections, electrical and instrumentation, control system, and operation and maintenance space, each design boundary and implementation detail was confirmed so the plan met process requirements while remaining practical for fabrication, installation, and operation. Complete: The process package was developed into a detailed engineering plan that could be fabricated, installed, and operated.

2

Integrating complex operating conditions into one system

Multiple pipelines with different pressure and temperature requirements, automated valves, PLC/DCS control, instruments, and equipment interfaces were coordinated inside one skid system, reducing later missed interfaces and system conflicts. Compact: The footprint, height, access passages, maintenance space, and lifting space were planned around site conditions.

3

Using modular delivery to reduce customer risk

More work was completed in the factory, so the site mainly focused on positioning, connection, commissioning, and start-up preparation. This reduced cross-construction risk, shortened site duration, and improved quality stability. Controlled: Modular production reduced site risks while balancing quality stability and the delivery schedule.

Sharp Eagle Advantages

Tailored project solution

Based on the customer’s process package, site conditions, complex operating requirements, control requirements, quality goals, and delivery schedule, we provide a customized plan better suited for real fabrication, installation, and operation.

Multidisciplinary engineering

Steel structure, industrial piping, equipment, electrical, instrumentation, controls, spatial layout, and other disciplines work together so the complex pilot unit is treated as one complete system.

One-stop solution

We cover design, procurement, fabrication, skid integration, testing, transportation, installation, and commissioning support, reducing the coordination cost between multiple parties.
